(Covid-19 cases 100,000 population by district (As of 15 June 2020)) In Nepal foremost the southern districts close to the border with India suffer most from the coronavirus. On 24th March 2020, the Government of Nepal decided on an almost complete lock-down. Since 14th of June its slowly opening up. From June on the government started to repatriate people from Gulf countries and Malaysia. They bring back people and above this, every day around 5.000 people are entering Nepal from the Indian border. These immigrants are mostly young men, and worked abroad as a labourer. Housing project in Duhabi Municipality, Sunsari

With our local partner Karuna Foundation Nepal we support a project in which about 30 houses will be constructed for Musahar people in Duhabi Sunsari (map) The project is developed in close coordination and with support of the local government. They bought the land, which will be transferred to the selected families. The selected families are Mushahar who are landless and permanent housing with entitlement will give them a better health as it protects from diseases from insects, cold during winters and moisture in rainy season. Also it provides safety and more dignity. From other projects where the same was done, we know that stone houses give also more selfesteem. […]
